GENERAL AD SPEC INFORMATION:

GC Communications prefers to receive ads electronically via email in either JPEG & PDF formats. You may also send a JPG for placement/proofing purposes. Please clearly note the paper name and issue date the ad is for in the ad's file name. A confirmation email will be sent acknowledging receipt of the ad.

If you chose to send the PDF on a disk, please also include a hard copy for proofing. A color laser printout is fine. Please clearly note the paper name and issue date the ad is for in the ad's file name.

All ads with color must be in CMYK format* only. If specific colors are required, please note the complete CMYK code or PMS color number. Grayscale/black & white ads can be sent as either PDF's or JPG's.

When generating PDF's, either through Distiller or graphic design programs such as PageMaker, Quark or InDesign, all layers should be removed, the file be "press optimized" and all fonts embedded. PDF's should also be Acrobat 4.0 compatible; Acrobat Distiller settings are available upon request.

There are no gutters or margins or bleeds. Line screen values are 85-110. Colors should be no lighter than 15% of their value as we print on newsprint paper.

If we are creating an ad for you, all logos and/or supporting images must be 300dpi JPG's, PDF's, or EPS files.

SENDING CAMERA READY ADS ON DISK:

"CAMERA READY" = READY TO PRINT. We review the ad upon receipt, however, it is extremely important that the ad be the correct dimensions, as we cannot readily change camera-ready work. Our measurements are height by width, 300 DPI or higher, and if in color, in CMYK format*.

Due to new technology instituted by our printer, we can no longer accept original program files, negatives, film or Velox for ads.

*IMPORTANT COLOR/DPI NOTE:

When creating a CMYK ad: All supporting images must be CMYK and 300dpi BEFORE being placed into your layout. Please do use or save in "RGB" or other color profiles, as the images will not break down to be printed correctly. Using anything other than this will result in the ad printing blurry or with jagged edges (pixilated).
